I was inspired today on pinterest... i work from home and am usually done for the day at the latest by 3. My youngest still takes a long nap in the afternoon so i have from 2-4:30 to myself. And what do i choose to do??? One of the projects i have been wanting to do! Lately i have been doing things that hardly take any time to get done so i have gotten alot accomplished. But i think i will take a break for a little bit. The hubs gets his wisdom teeth out tomorrow. So i will be on wife duty. And i am going to RELAX this weekend and spend some extra time with the fam. I would't trade my life and am glad that i do have time to do the things i enjoy. And hey i am not spending any money lately on my little projects! But now that i have knocked quite a few that i have been wanting to get done i am going to pace myself :)
But back to my inspiration. I saw this today and it reminded me of a foil technique that i wanted to try. I knew it wouldn't take a ton of time so as soon as i got done working i went to work.
This cute "LOVE" decor comes from http://alicew.typepad.com. Here is my own very cheap version.
All you need is cardboard, mod podge, foil (heavy duty) and paint
I started by cutting my cardboard.
Then mod podge the foil on. Start by tracing your letter onto the foil. But before you mod podge that on. Cover the edge of the letters with foil.
Then mod podge the piece of foil that you traced.
Once dry clean off any mod podge from the front of the letters. Then apply a coat of paint. This is what they will look like. (i used a dark grey, but can use black - can use acrylic craft paint)
Before it completely dries, take a rag a gently wipe some of the paint off.
